Working as a Design Lead for Scout, Northeastern’s student-led design studio, on the Playground Team. Green Line Records came to us looking for a redesign of their website, the primary way they gain new artists to sign and members of their various teams.
The team for this project consisted of:
Aleena Narula (Designer), Andrea Lee (Designer), Annabelle Paradis (Designer), Claudia Martinez (Designer), KP Chungwatana (Account Lead), Naomi Desai (Playground Director), and Sydney Tomasello (Design Lead).
We were asked to simplify the content of the website, while maintaining their grunge and indie style. In addition, they wanted to incorporate multiple instances of interaction, creating an enjoyable and memorable experience.
The most important choice made was creating a much more simplified system with typography and navigation. This created a clean base that we could build off of for photography, playlists, posters, and more.
For repeating visual elements like the buttons, arrows, and holding devices, we moved away from the current design trend of rounded corners. These sharp edges were a visual connection to more goth, metal, and alternative trends that were reflected in our mood boards.
Encouraging people to explore and have fun on the Green Line Records website was the biggest challenge to tackle. To do this, our interactions brought in the brand's bright green, and highlighted the artists first. On the home page, we incorporated some of the brand's grunge style through adding their stickers and interactive gifs in the playlist section.
The entire website was completed using Figma, to be implemented by their internal web team in Summer 2024. I worked on the Artists, Individual Artists, and Articles pages personally, and provided support to designers on all pages through the website.
