Tastemakers is Northeastern University's student-run music magazine. Each semester the magazine produces two issues, and promotes and puts on two shows. Starting as a Designer, and eventually becoming Art Director, I designed a multitude of spreads, social assets, and a refresh for the frontmatter of the magazine.
Established in 2006, Tastemakers Magazine has gone through many changes over the past 20 years. However, it had been 10 years since the frontmatter of the magazine was updated, so I was tasked with cleaning up and designing a better system for overall brand cohesion across mediums.
Focusing on cleaning up the overall look of the frontmatter, while maintaining the kitschy style we have on Instagram.
The Tastemakers design style is almost entirely illustration-based, making each issue incredibly unique and full to the brim with personality. I was able to flex my illustration muscles and explore a bunch of different styles over the 14 issues I worked on.
